The Dedham Food Pantry is the fortunate recipient of the fourteenth annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Much gratitude is owed to the Letter Carriers and the Noble and Greenough community. Not only did our local postal workers collect food from households across town, they also staffed a very tasty barbecue lunch for the volunteers at the collection and sorting site, Noble and Greenough School.
Special thanks go to Coordinator Extraordinaire, Linda Hurley, Noble’s Community Service Coordinator who spearheads this very successful drive and helps the pantry in numerous ways throughout the year.
On Saturday May 11th, 2013 the Noble and Greenough School will partner with The Dedham Letter Carriers Union to process donations for the National Stamp Out Hunger Drive. It is the largest one day food collection in the country. Volunteers are needed from Noon - 5PM at the Noble and Greenough School Buildings and Grounds Garage. Donations are unloaded and sorted for the Dedham Food Pantry. Please contact Linda Hurley at 781-320-7261 linda_hurley@nobles.edu.
Repost from the Dedham Patch
The Dedham Food Pantry will now be able to to upgrade their cooling systems thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation.
“This grant is a real big shot in the arm for us” Dedham Food Pantry President, Lindsay Barich said. “With these funds we will be able to update our outdated refrigerator and freezer systems and work towards automatizing some of our work as we do most of it by hand. This is a great example of neighbors helping neighbors.”
